In an abandoned house, a body dances its memories… Rite of Passage is a sensory exploration of the act of becoming, transformation and the search for one’s identity.
Featuring improvised Butoh dance, rare archival footage and an experimental soundtrack, it explores the relation to one’s memories and the place of transformation.
What happens in the process of "becoming"? How can the body express the sometimes violent nature of change? How are we constructed through these rites of passage? In the words of Gilles Deleuze, “the self is only a threshold, a door, a becoming between two multiplicities.” Official Selection by 28 international festivals in 17 countries.
