Desi Angrezi (The English of India) is a tale of human aspirations and struggle.
Naushad and Tanveer, the protagonists in the film, come from humble backgrounds.
They have big dreams.
Naushad wishes to be a civil servant, and Tanveer aspires to become a college Dean.
Grappling with broken English terms, both of them are learning the language to strengthen their chances.
The film touches on the poignancy of their situation, observing the different layers in their lives, and documenting their individual efforts. The perseverance in Naushad and Tanveer’s life is contrasted with their struggle to master the language.
A language that, they hope, could change their fate.
