Building bridges based on the belief that film becomes art only when its materials are as inexpensive as pencil & paper. Cine Pobre Film Festival is the 100% self-funded intersection of culture and capabilities.
I was born in Tehran in February 1995 to an average Iranian family as the only child. My father was a taxi agency driver who painted in his spare time, and my mother was a housewife who spent all her time watching TV series. I had a lonely and socially-deprived childhood but became interested in cinema at the age of seven. I developed this interest by telling stories to my classmates in elementary school, performing plays for my friends, and writing summaries of every movie I saw until I was 17 years old. Up until I entered university, however, I was never able to go to a related class because my family simply could not afford it.
In high school, I became more introverted due to family problems, and the only group activity that pulled me out of my loneliness was participating in student theaters. Although I had good grades, my extracurricular theater activities were more important to me than my studies because I was able to express myself more through it, and with the work, I showed in this field, I was able to win an award in the field of student acting.
After graduating from high school, my mother and father, who were at the height of their differences, separated, and after a year of regaining the ability to face my new life, I began studying for a bachelor's degree in dramatic literature at Tehran Azad University. I also acted in theaters and several short films and in 2019, I started studying for a master's degree in cinema at the Faculty of Cinema and Theater of Tehran University of Arts. In the meantime, my father was diagnosed with autism at the age of 62, and I, who had been searching for myself and my family's problems all this time, was finally able to find the root of some of this inability to communicate. Finally, the allegorical depiction of some of these problems could help me to express myself more and more. Now, after completing my first directing experience, I am not able to find anything better for my health than to visualize my mind. Therefore, I wrote a text that was initially called "Endless Night" out of the darkness and later "Gazing" (in Persian they attribute to a person who is insane), a film that as my first experience is very personal and sometimes annoying.
I hope that the way I have finally found the courage to walk in it will be smoother and sweeter for me in the future so that I can show my mind to the people of the world with more ease.
