from Northridge, California. She earned a BA in anthropology, with a focus on archeology and film from the historical Howard University in Washington D.C.. As an archaeologist, Kelley conducted research and excavated sites such as the Buffalo Soldiers and ancient Mayan ruins. It was during these travels that Kelley would discover an initial passion for filmmaking through documentaries. She then interned at National Geographic Television and Film, which sparked the idea using film to focus on social issues within her local community and beyond. She has since written, produced and directed award-winning films in Belize, Haiti, China to name a few.
