With little luggage but a lot of hope and faith around 330 Tyrolean’s and 120 Rhinelander’s migrated in the mid-19th century to the Peruvian jungle.
Their goal was to reach Pozuzo, an area which they got provided by the state of Peru.
Around 160 years later mobility and migration are still present and very important for the people.
During these years a lot of different people came to Pozuzo, in hopes of finding a new paradise.
The Tyrolean language almost vanished and at the same time more and more young Pozuzinos leave the isolated valley and head for modern Lima.
The ones who stay are divided between keeping the heritage of their migrated ancestors and the challenges or chances of a new globalised world.
Not least the identity of the place and the definition of affiliation are at stake. A small film team from Innsbruck (Austria) put different perceptions of home, identity and heritage to record.
In this documentary the people from Pozuzo get a voice.
They talk openly about their disturbing experiences with the Sendero Luminoso, the freedom fighters or terrorists at the beginning of the 90´s in Peru, about the Tyrolean legacy, about social and economic conflicts and about their hopes in future tourism for which they pretend to be a small Disneyland for Peruvian people. The film illuminates a today of an almost forgotten micro cosmos – an uncertain paradise? http://etwasparadies.tantegert.com/
