Extinct is a 20 minute experimental film made by Nina Fortier, Sara Blumenthal and a group of female artists in Olympia, Washington.
It explores the lived experience of these women through the medium of film and performance.
The performances culminate into a document of a dystopic parallel present.
This film depicts the undercurrent of our culture: the 'small violences' experienced by women and expressed by women.
Rather than recreating and filming the experiences of women we chose to give our performers the chance to show their experiences in their own 'language'.
As a collaborative gesture this film prompted and we hope prompts conversation about gender, social position, and a deep seeded feeling we don't know where to place.
