What happens during an exhibition in a building that is to be demolished shortly after? This is the question that the documentary about the art project SOLLBRUCHSTELLE is trying to answer. The film joins Nikkol Rot and Jenja Roman Doerig, the founders of SOLLBRUCHSTELLE, as they go through the project’s life cycle – from the preparation of the exhibition to the demolition of the building. Atmospheric images portray a place for encounters.
It is where artists foster a dialogue that makes the building at Löwenstrasse 16 in Zurich come to life one last time and lets everyone pay their final respects. Producers Gabriela Bischofberger and Kwamina Roberts (Music and Mind / Dualism) filmed the eight chapters using mostly two cameras and doing without a narrator.
This allows for an authentic and unaltered encounter with the art and the artists and lets the spectator take a central perspective. The documentary provides a view behind the scenes of an art project, focusing on personal stories and emotional moments.
